Federal deadline for accessible websites, previously set for April 24, 2026, has been postponed, with compliance timelines now extended to 2027 and beyond. Why is online accessibility so important? Barriers to accessing services online can affect and complicate people’s day-to-day lives. When an online form is not designed accessibly, it can prevent someone with a disability from accessing services just because of disability. That is disability discrimination.
Online accessibility is important because it is federal law. Compliance provides important insurance against a tide of discrimination post-deadline lawsuits while also expanding your reach to new clients/customers/patients.
