Preparatory Course for the Court Certification Exam
Preparatory Course for the Court Certification Exam is our most comprehensive course for legal interpreters, and prepares them to take both written and oral portions of state or federal certification exam. To prepare students for the written exam, the course includes in-depth content on court interpreter ethics, the U.S. legal system, and 23 glossaries of legal terminology. For preparation for the oral exam, the course contains 47 interpretation exercises in the consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation modes.
For interpreters who wish to study for the English language proficiency portion of the written exam, we offer an English language proficiency practice test package that can be taken with the prep course for the certification exam.
With this course, students will be able to:
1. Expand their knowledge of the U.S. legal system such as criminal procedure, legal concepts, and various special topics.
2. Build an extensive base of ready-to-use linguistic equivalents of legal and special terminology.
3. Improve their interpretation skills in the three different modes (SI, CI, & ST) with the help of a language-specific instructor. (Packages 3-5).
4. Gain a better understanding of the Code of Ethics for legal interpreters.
The Preparatory Course for the Certification Exam is offered in the following five packages.
